Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Federal law in the United States of America prohibits any website from disclosing, in any shape or form, personal information of a minor less than 13 years of age. As a Canadian-based website and virtual airline, Canadian Airlines Virtual acts in accordance with all terms defined in the Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA) as introduced by the Government of the United States of America. Due to the fact that Canadian Airlines Virtual discloses our member's names on our pilot roster, we cannot allow minors under 13 to become pilots for our virtual airline. Under COPPA, a letter of permission may be faxed to the management of any website from the parents of a minor under 13, allowing the minor to join. However, to maintain a certain level of professionalism, Canadian Airlines Virtual has a policy of only accepting minors who are at least 14 years of age. To maintain fairness towards all virtual pilots at Canadian Airlines Virtual and in the flight simulation community, there will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule.
