Terms of Service

Canadian Airlines Virtual is always looking for dedicated flight simulator pilots to join our ranks. There is never a time where we are not looking for anymore pilots, so if you are interested in joining Canadian Airlines Virtual, we invite you to read further.

Please read the following Terms of Service and our Operations Manual carefully before sending an application. Canadian Airlines Virtual requires all pilots, prospective or otherwise, to read our Operations Manual and abide by our Terms of Service in order to remain a member of our virtual airline.

If you agree to the following Terms and Conditions, please click the "I Agree" link, and you will be given an entrance quiz to complete. The questions are not difficult, and consist of content from our Terms of Service and Pilot Handbook, as well as general knowledge questions related to commercial aviation. If you do not agree to these terms, please click "I Disagree" and you will be re-directed to our home page.

As a prospective pilot and member of Canadian Airlines Virtual, I hereby declare and agree that...

1. I am at least 14 years of age. Federal law in the United States of America prohibits any website from disclosing, in any form, personal information of a minor under 13 years of age. As a Canadian-based website and virtual airline, Canadian Airlines Virtual acts in accordance with all terms defined in the Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA) as introduced by the Government of the United States of America . Due to the fact that Canadian Airlines Virtual discloses our member's names on our pilot roster, we cannot allow minors under 13 to become pilots for our virtual airline. Under COPPA, a letter of permission may be faxed to the management of any website from the parents of a minor under 13, allowing the minor to join. However, to maintain a certain level of professionalism, Canadian Airlines Virtual has a policy of only accepting minors who are at least 14 years of age. To maintain fairness towards all virtual pilots at Canadian Airlines Virtual and in the flight simulation community, there will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

2. I own a legal copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight, or Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 and earlier versions, along with any other flight simulation software, are not officially supported by Canadian Airlines Virtual.

3. I will provide and maintain a valid e-mail address to be eligible for membership. I acknowledge that if at any time, I cannot be reached via e-mail for reasons including, but not limited to a full or non-existent mailbox, my membership at Canadian Airlines Virtual will be terminated without warning. I understand that a valid e-mail address is required to activate my account.

4. I have read and I understand the Canadian Airlines Virtual Operations Manual. I have read and understand all material in the Legal Disclaimer, the Privacy Policy, and the Code of Conduct and Ethics.

5. I acknowledge and understand that I have 7 days from the date my account is activated to fly my first flight with Canadian Airlines Virtual. I understand that I have a period of 72 hours to activate my account from the time an e-mail is sent out from the Canadian Airlines Virtual server. Failure to adhere to both these conditions will result in my account being terminated without warning. I understand that my application can be invalidated by Canadian Airlines Virtual's Personnel Department for any reason.

6. I understand that flight hours flown with other virtual airlines or on VATSIM are accepted, up to a maximum of seventy five (75) flight hours credited to my account, provided that I provide a valid link to my previous virtual airline so that these hours can be verified. Failure to provide a valid link will result in my forfeiting any potential transfer of flight hours to my account. In the case of transferring VATSIM hours, I understand that the seventy five (75) hour limit still stands, and that I must provide a valid VATSIM ID corresponding to my real name and the same name that I will use to signup with Canadian Airlines Virtual.

7. I will conduct myself with the utmost professionalism, integrity, and respect towards all members, staff, supervisors, and management at Canadian Airlines Virtual, our partner virtual airlines, the VATSIM network, and the entire flight simulator community at all times as specified, defined, and described in the Canadian Airlines Virtual Code of Conduct and Ethics. I understand that if at any time I conduct myself in a manner that could negatively affect the professional image and reputation of Canadian Airlines Virtual or any of it's members or staff, my account and membership at Canadian Airlines Virtual can be suspended or terminated for any length of time. Canadian Airlines Virtual reserves the right to suspend, terminate, or refuse membership to any member for any reason.

8. I will not provide false information about myself to any member of Canadian Airlines Virtual, on my application, or on the Pilot Forums at any time, and I understand that if it is discovered that I have done so, my membership can and will be immediately suspended or terminated without notice. I understand that only full names are accepted by Canadian Airlines Virtual, and that nicknames or aliases are not allowed.

9. I understand that I must score at least 80% on the Canadian Airlines Virtual Entrance Examination to be accepted for membership, and that the test may only be attempted twice in a 24 hour period.

10. I allow Canadian Airlines Virtual and it's staff to communicate with me via my valid, registered e-mail address for any reason. This may include general communication, policy changes, delivery of the Newsletter, event announcements, or any other correspondence. I understand that Canadian Airlines Virtual does not participate in sending any form of SPAM, and that any member found doing so is in violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethics, and the account of the member in question will be terminated immediately without warning.

NOTE: All pilots must file one flight report every thirty (30) days, or your account may be terminated by VA staff without warning. Our shortest flights are as little as 30 minutes in duration; we feel that pilots should be able to spare at least 30 minutes each month in order to keep their membership. Inactive accounts waste server space and bandwidth; this is why this rule is enforced.

Our server automatically tracks inactive accounts, and will send you a notification if your account is found to be inactive.
Please be aware that while the server may grant you a grace period, staff members who may be conducting manual roster cleanups will enforce the 30-day rule.

If for any reason you are unable to comply with this requirement, you may put your account under a Leave of Absence (LOA) from the Account Management page. To remove the LOA, simply assign a flight to your account. Please note that while LOA's are not limited or restricted, staff members reserve the right to ask the reason for an LOA if you have been on leave for an extended period of time.

If your account is deleted and you wish to re-join, you are more than welcome to do so. But please note that the server will have deleted your logbook and all records of your account. However, you may request that your VATSIM hours be transferred to your account; if you flew your previous flights on VATSIM, your rank will be the same as before, minus all the flight reports that were logged.

I acknowledge and understand that by clicking the "I Agree" link to continue to the next page, that I agree to adhere to all the terms mentioned above and in any publications linked to above, including, but not limited to the Operations Manual. I understand that these terms are subject to change without notice, and when terms are changed, I agree to read and adhere to any modifications posted on the website in the future.

If you agree to all terms listed above, we invite you to continue to the Entrance Examination below.
You must score 80% to be accepted for membership.
Good luck, and Welcome Aboard in advance!
